The Freedom of Finding Your True Identity

Over the past year, I found myself on a journey that I never expected. Hidden things brought to the light because of the goodness of a Father who sees the end from the beginning. Walking in the freedom of living in the light is a daily process—a daily decision. The hardest part of being free is not in that critical moment that we decide we want to be free, that initial spark that lights the fire, but in the lifelong maintenance process to keep the fires of freedom burning.

I discovered that freedom begins where pride ends, and vulnerability pushes the edit button of my heart wherein Father can write over the lies I had allowed to be inscribed upon my inner tablet. I worked a lifetime to make sure others saw me the way I wanted them to see me. I feared the thought of losing who I was, but in reality, I feared facing who I was. The wall of fear I had was built by the selfishness of preserving what I thought defined who I was. My security was found in the people who treated me how I trained them to treat me. If I taught them to agree with my selfish ways, I had no problems living peacefully with them, however if they disagreed with what I wanted, I would see them as a threat and withdraw further behind the wall of fear I had erected to protect my insecurities.

Messiah is concerned about matters of the heart, because it is the unseen issues of the heart that steers the rudder of a person’s life. As long as I see myself as less than what I was created to be, and unsure of what He says about me, I will go on wrecking every relationship I am in. This self-destructive nature originated in the Garden where Eve was convinced by that ole serpent that she was less than who she was created to be because she could no longer trust the word of the One who created her.

Yes…as Steve Foss so brilliantly points out in his book, “Satan’s Dirty Little Secret”, it is from the spirits of insecurity and inferiority wherein every other demonic spirit derives it’s strength from. Everything a person deals with can be traced back to these two chief spirits of the underworld. Just as the two middle pillars that held up the house where Samson was chained, the spirits of insecurity and inferiority hold up the structure of the kingdom of darkness.

Whether a person is outgoing or withdrawn, these spirits are constantly at work to keep a person in a state of restlessness, always trying to prove themselves as somebody in the eyes of others. The drive in every human being is to find a place of rest for their souls. People look to fame to give them value and fortune to give them security. This recipe of destruction originated in the heart of Lucifer when he began to feel inferior to Yahuweh (The Hebrew Name for God) and superior to the other messengers of light. He also began to feel insecure in his position, because he was no longer content with who he was created to be.

After his fall, Yahuweh made man in His own image and likeness. Lucifer was jealous of this new creation, and therefore setup a plan to overthrow Yahuweh’s agenda of having a family. Lucifer knew that if he was cast from the presence of Yahuweh because of insecurity and inferiority, he could coerce mankind into falling in the same manner in which he fell. He even tried to coerce the Son of Man in the same way through his three acts of temptation in the wilderness (Luke 4). These temptations were rooted in insecurity and inferiority and he still uses them today to drive mankind further away from the presence of Yahuweh.

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but Elohim (God) is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”–1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV

Notice in the wilderness temptations, that Satan does not provide a way of escape, but a dead end trap because he needs to feed his own insecurity and inferiority. He demands worship first, then he will provide the reward (vs. 7), whereas Yahuweh desires to be worshiped because He has already given the reward (salvation through His Son). Love gives first and the desire to love back in worship comes next.

Satan will not be content until his desire to be like the Most High comes to pass (which we know will never happen). When Father Yahuweh tries us, providing a way of escape out of the trial, it is not motivated by anything other than love for His children. Satan’s temptations, however, lead to the servitude of sin, but Abba Father’s trials lead to everlasting life. This is how we know who is at the source of our trial and thus how we know whether to rebuke it or embrace it.

The journey I have undertaken, as painful as it has been, has opened up my eyes to see how desperately He wants His children to be free. As long as we remain wrapped up in our ‘insecurity’ blankets, we will never see how bound up we really are. The ‘warmth’ of being bound up in insecurity and inferiority supports the breeding of demonic ‘germs’ that attack not only the healthy cells in our members, but will eventually spread out into an out of control virus bent on wearing down the rest of the body. This is the mission of Lucifer and his agents as it speaks of in Daniel 7:25—“And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High.”

Isolation through fear is the tactic the enemy uses to keep the spirits of insecurity and inferiority hidden. I am not just speaking of social isolation either, because even the most outgoing people hide behind walls of fear through their façade of vulnerability. To some extent or the other, people are driven by fear to protect what gives them their identity. Most people are not honest with themselves, even to the point of living their lives behind a mask to prevent others from seeing who they really are. There are a lot of reasons people do this, mostly out of a lack of trust. Once a person’s word is doubted, whether by an action performed by that person, or the gossip of another, trust begins to degrade. It is what happened to Eve when the serpent said, “hath God said…?” At that point, trust in the truth of the Word of Elohim began to be attacked.

Another reason people work so hard to prevent others from seeing who they really are is pride. Humility simply means to be honest about yourself and this requires much vulnerability. It was pride that was found in the heart of Lucifer because he refused to acknowledge (or accept) who he was. He was no longer satisfied to remain in the manner in which he was created. He only saw who he wanted to be—like Elohim (God). Pride is never content for it puffs itself up to hide what it is really protecting. The spirit of pride, along with every other demonic entity, derives its strength from the spirits of insecurity and inferiority. The cold and evil nature within the people of this world is constantly energized by these two foul spirits. Matthew 24:12 speaks of the increase of wickedness in the latter days because of the love of many growing cold. Also, in Revelation 9:20 it speaks of people refusing to repent because of the works of their hands.

There is an extremely important revelation here that I want you to see. What would cause a world of people to grow so cold that no matter what Elohim (God) is pouring out upon the earth, they still refuse to repent of their wicked deeds? Go and read Revelation 9:20-21. Look around the world today. The hatred for the Creator is growing exponentially. The hatred to submit to any kind of authority is increasing at such an alarming rate. Love and mercy are mocked. Showing kindness to others is weakness in the eyes of the world. The defiant nature and rebellion in the children that Rivkah teaches is unbelievable—mind boggling to the max. What is the driving force behind the love of many growing cold? What is causing the spread of the icing over of the hearts of many so that the earth is becoming more and more filled with wickedness?

I believe what is happening is the maturing, and the waxing old of what began in the Garden of Eden with the release of the spirits of insecurity and inferiority upon mankind. I can confidently speak on this because these two spirits nearly destroyed my life. The end goal of these spirits is to suck the very life out of what threatens their existence. It is the love of Elohim that gives human beings the balanced dosage of feeling secure and valuable in the image in which they were created. Without knowing such love, people resort to the never ending battle to gain security and self worth through the sins they commit. They will gladly rebel if it means they will receive something they believe is good for them. The serpent was very wise. He convinced mankind to reject the love of Elohim and to accept an alternative source of love—love for themselves (The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil). This is the where the ‘I am a good person and thus I deserve to go to heaven when I die” attitude comes from. This is how Adam and Eve realized they were naked, because their eyes were opened just as Lucifer’s eyes were opened to how beautiful he was. No one is good outside the love of Elohim. A person’s goodness will never save them. That is a lie from the beginning of time.

It is the selfish nature within a person that prevents them from receiving the love of Elohim. After all, who wouldn’t want to protect what makes them feel good, right? If the love of Elohim is seen as a threat to what people deem is ‘good’ for them, no wonder it is so easily rejected. People are fearful of losing what gives them their identity, thus is also the greatest fear of Satan when someone finds their identity in the love of Elohim.

It was the love of Elohim, birthed in the truth of His Word, that first gave mankind their identity. The greatest war Satan will ever wage is on the love of God that He has for His children. Satan absolutely hates love because it destroys insecurity and inferiority. And without these two spirits in operation in a person’s life, he/she will be able to return to the state prior to the fall of man, prior to the point of eating the fruit. And it is the love of Elohim, through the shed blood of the Lamb that destroys these spirits.

To receive the love of God, is to believe that He is for you and not against you. It is to believe that the warnings that He gives to us is for our GOOD and not for our evil. It is to be who we were created to be—people who walked with their Elohim (God) in the cool of the day, feeling secure that He only tells us the truth and that we are valuable in His eyes. However, the love of Elohim cannot be received without first the spirit of repentance in operation in a person’s life. This precious gift must not be rejected. For without it, insecurity and inferiority will grow to such an extent that its power will prevent it’s host from ever repenting (see Revelation 9:20-21). Their love gone cold will continue to grow into a violent hate for Elohim. They will say, “though you slay me, I will curse you,” while those who receive the love of Elohim shed abroad in their hearts say, “though you slay me, I will praise you!”

My beloved friends, most of my life I allowed the lies of Lucifer to steal from me the ability to grasp hold of the love of the Father. Because of the power of insecurity and inferiority operating in my life, I continued to grow more and more selfish in order to protect what I thought gave me my identity. And if I had allowed that to continue, the selfishness would have gotten to the point that it would have overtaken me and any residual love inside of me would have frozen over so that I would have become unidentifiable as one who was made in the image and likeness of the Creator.

This is what happens. Insecurity and inferiority will continue to expand in a person as long as they refuse to allow the love of Elohim to enter in. Selfishness is the building block of fear, and the more a person is selfish, the higher the wall of fear grows. Soon, there is nothing left of the nature of love within a person because it has been completely shut out, cold and in the dark.

Satan hates the verse in 1 John 4:18. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” If the love of Elohim is allowed to enter into a persons life, it will begin to undermine the foundation of fear, and the walls of selfishness will begin to crumble. And if there are no walls to protect insecurity and inferiority, they will also begin to die out. The torment fear has comes from inferiority and insecurity. Love destroys the torment, therefore fear has to flee—HalleluYah! I have begun to learn to be more vulnerable with people whose only desire is to show me the love of the Father. This is how we must allow His love to flow into us, by the people who He has placed in our lives who truly belong to Him. His love is shown through His children who are truly His disciples (John 13:35)

Today, I stand as a testimony to the reality of all that I have written here. I beseech you—allow the love of the Father to enter into your life by repentance. It is the kindness of Yahuweh, shown through Messiah His Son and His followers, that leads us to repentance (Romans 2:4). Every human being on this planet deals with some form of insecurity and inferiority. Drive them out of your life forever—today! Will them to not stay inside of you. If left unattended, they will grow into that monster of wickedness that the Scriptures speak of because the love of Elohim has grown ice cold.

We will follow after who we identify with. Just as little ducks follow their mother in whom they resemble, we will follow who gives us our identity. Either we serve the Master of love, or the master of hate. Lucifer has woven a genius of a plan to keep you bound up believing that the love of Elohim (God) is your enemy. But I am here to tell you that it is the love of Elohim that will destroy all its enemies—even the final enemy called Death (1 Corinthians 15:26). Satan hates love, because love brings freedom. I challenge you today to seek out what is destroying your relationships. Ask that all hidden things be revealed and embrace the very thing that YOUR enemy hates—and that is the love of Elohim shown through the sacrifice of His only Son. You are loved today by your Creator. Close your eyes to the deception that your weak in confidence and invaluable to life. And open your eyes to all that the love of the Father has in store for you. Repent before it is too late. The King of Kings is coming—are you ready? Do you believe in Him and by your daily actions show Him that you believe in Him?

Lets put the blame to where the blame is due. Satan is the master deceiver. You’ve been lied to, and now what are you going to do about it? Our Elohim (God) is for us, and not against us! (Romans 8:31) Today is the day to decide whom you will follow, as we are not guaranteed tomorrow. Refuse to accept the lie that you are just fine the way you are. I didn’t refuse it and I nearly destroyed my entire life and salvation. We cannot afford to be wrong and gamble with the idea that we can save ourselves by our own goodness. We cannot. Do not risk being wrong, but error on the side of the One who has loved you from eternity past, with an everlasting love!

Shalom, Peace be unto you,

Derek
