Happy Rosh Chodesh! It’s Elul

Shalom!

Welcome to the month of Elul. It is a very strategic month designed to prepare us for transitioning into the fall festivals. This month is the month of repentance and begins our 40 day count down to Yom Kippur. It is time to prepare our hearts before Him in making sure there is nothing standing in the way of our relationship with our Creator. This is the 6th month and like the 6th day, it is a time of gathering and preparing for the 7th day of rest. This is a pivotal time for His people because it is the time where obedience to His word is of the utmost importance. If we do not believe that He will provide for us on the 7th day, we will not be able to enter into His rest (Hebrews 4)

Like the manna that was gathered on the 6th day, let us make sure that we are not holding onto more than what He wants us to gather for fear that He will not provide for us in the 7th day. It’s time to make sure that what we hold onto now is what He told us to gather and nothing else. We can not add to His already good supply by adding what we have gathered from the untrusting arm of flesh. This is sin and it must be gotten out if we are to enter into that final rest with Him.

Elul is our preparation month like Friday is our preparation day. It is also representative of the 6000th year of man. Elul is the time, as mankind, to prepare to meet with our Creator. Everything we do on this 6th day, month, and year is for us (man) so that when the 7th day dawns, our work is complete and we are ready to spend our time with the One who is called Beloved. We have 6 days to complete our preparations. We have now entered into that 6th day.

Restore to me the joy of thy salvation!

Love and blessings,

Derek and Rivkah
